In case you’ve been living under a rock, the Cambridges welcomed their son, Prince George, just over three weeks ago on July 22nd. That’s right: Kate Middleton and Prince William. They’re the world’s most famous couple. And now they’re the world’s most famous parents. Doesn’t she look so happy holding little Georgy?
All of those magazines that tried to compare them to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West – psh. No comparison. Kate’s son will shape the future of a country and a Commonwealth; what will Kim K’s daughter, North, do? Probably cry herself to sleep every night because her mother named her North West. Barf.
This afternoon, Kensington Palace announced that on September 12th, Kate and William will be attending an awards ceremony for the British charity, Tusk Trust. The charity focuses on protecting endangered species and alleviating poverty in Africa by providing locals with sophisticated infrastructure and education.
The couple has supported this charity several times since they wed. First, they attended a benefit on their tour of the US the summer after their wedding; last year, they made an appearance for the premier of African Cats in the UK. It’s obvious that Africa shares a special place in their hearts. It is where they got engaged.
Aside from when Wills and Kate premiered their bundle of joy outside the hospital, the last time Kate appeared in public was in mid-June. The Duchess christened the new Royal Princess Cruise ship by smashing a 4 gallon, $1,500 bottle of Moët & Chandon Impérial. What a way to begin your maternity leave – smashing a megabottle that holds roughly 20 normal bottles of expensive champagne.
Do I think it’s a coincidence that for Kate’s last official royal duty, she was wearing an animal print dress by London retailer Hobbs? And now she’s attending a charity – her first royal duty since Prince George was born – and it’s for a charity protecting endangered animals? Interesting…
She already stunned the world by stepping out of the hospital looking flawless in a powder blue Jenny Packham dress with her signature nude colored heels. Side note: Can you believe the media criticized her for still looking 6 months pregnant just TWO days after giving birth? Clearly, they’re not in touch with reality.
What do you think Kate will wear on September 12th for the charity event? Will she stick to her go-to designers Alexander McQueen, Temperley London, Jenny Packham, or Emilia Wickstead? Personally, I think she’ll go with a designer we haven’t seen in a while.
As always, I look forward to seeing what Kate wears for her debut back into society.
