Ever Constant Change

In case you didn’t know, this past Sunday was wildly important for several reasons.

First, it was Max’s and mine three month anniversary – yay! I love being a newlywed. I’ll have to do a megapost on only the very best of our wedding photos. Who doesn’t love browsing through wedding pictures? Honestly…they’re good for ideas, oohing and awwwing, and they just make you happy because weddings are a joyous occasion. Anyways, back to the point.

Second, it was the official first day of Fall. From now until the end of 2013, we’ve got a three day weekend every month, several massive holidays to celebrate (Thanksgiving’s my favorite), and the start of a new year. Time off from work, seeing family members and sharing special memories, the chance at a fresh start (hyperboly speaking).

If ever there was a word to describe the Fall season, it would be change.

That brings me to my third point. The final reason that this past Sunday was important is because it was supposed to be the day Max left for his second deployment. Supposed to being the key words. We found out in the eleventh hour that his departure date was pushed back a few days. It was an unexpected, but much appreciated gift.

Sometimes life throws you a curveball and it catches you off guard; it can be in a good way or a bad way. For us, it was a blessing that we welcomed.

I hate saying goodbye, but I love that we were able to spend a few extra days and an entire weekend together. It sucks that he’ll be gone for the most festive time of the year. No first Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Years together as a married couple.

As an eternally optimistic individual, I look forward to the Fall of 2014 with great anticipation. It’s the season of change, of hope and of infinite possibilities.
